Exterpark Tech SHIELD is the latest innovation of composite decking. Using an upgraded construction method, we achieve a wood texture finish that is stain and scratch resistant. Exterpark Tech SHIELD is also made from the same 60% wood content that comes from sustainable forests which are FSC. If your project has green credentials Exterpark Tech is also 100% recyclable being eco-friendly.
Exterpark Tech and Tech SHIELD composite decking is an advanced outdoor flooring system that is by far the fastest Decking in the world to install due to using our patented Magnet System.
This system creates an overall better look, with no gaps and no visible under-structure, it is more hygienic as no food or other objects can fall down between gaps, likewise, there is no loss of valuables so you cannot loose coins, rings or keys. The system is safer as nothing can get stuck such as high heels or fingers and best of all it’s easy to install – no screws, no pre-drilling and no tools.
Designers, Architects and private clients should specify this decking when a budget and time is tight. With a choice of 8 colours to suit any setting calling for low maintenance Exterpark Tech and Exterpark Tech SHIELD are a popular choice.
Technical Information
Exterpark Tech:
Correct installation is important for all composite products. Euro Covering S.L. warranties the durability of Exterpark Tech for a period of 5 years granting its stability against humidity and temperature once installed in accordance with the installation guide, and in normal use and maintenance conditions, understanding by use to be strictly pedestrian without presence of abrasive elements. Understand and assuming it will be exposed to severe conditions.
Important advice:
The installation guide should be followed carefully before proceeding with installation. Exterpark Tech’s installation is similar to Exterpark outdoor wood flooring systems. Nevertheless the difference in composition will make Exterpark Tech perform differently, it is fundamental to know these differences when planning an installation in the correct way.
Exterpark Tech is high density polyethylene and vegetable fibre, the performance and behaviour is homogeneous, therefore the coefficient of expansion and contraction will be the same in any direction. Apart from considering the importance of transversal expansion such as in the wood, the installer will also have to consider the rest of the variables: width and length (short ends).
The installation surface has to comply with the following:
Capacity to evacuate the water that will drain through Exterpark Tech. The most common installation will be done in concrete, with impermeable surface and smooth slopes to address water to evacuation pipes. If the under floor is not waterproof, a polyethylene sheet should be installed (gauge 0.6mm overlapped at least 20cm) and this will be fixed with the pedestals of the Exterpark Tech installation. By using the sheet the installer will ensure that the surface evacuates the water and at the same time it will not be absorbed by the concrete therefore we will reduce the risk of high humidity levels in the under structure.
- Surface should be perfectly levelled.
- The distance between them is mentioned at the beginning of this guide and depends on the use of private or commercial.
- Pedestals (or the linking structure of the joists to the concrete) will be placed every 40cm.
- It is recommended that the height of the installation is not less than 15 cm in order to confer a good ventilation of the under structure.
Intallation of Exterpark Tech:
This system is achieved by working over essential elements
- A special groove at the bottom of each board to allocate magnet clips.
- Aluminium joists with a very specific and accurate geometry for the magnet clip to click inside.
- Spacers inside boards to leave 4mm invisible expansion and drainage gap
- Blocking units to keep all boards always in the same place and prevent longitudinal movement
- Leveling instruments such as pedestals and wedges.
The magnet clip is the corner stone of the system. The key is the strength with the right flexibility. Fully made of POM, a high performance engineering thermoplastic with excellent dimensional stability even at extreme conditions, strong yet flexible, low friction, co-efficient and high abrasion resistance.
Notes:
Gravel or soil are not recommended under flooring bases as they are extremely porous and in case of long periods of rain the water will be accumulated underneath. The use of a polyethylene sheet will not be suitable on top of this surface neither.
If installing along the perimeter of a swimming pool slopes should be considered to address the water in the opposite direction of the swimming pool for hygienic reasons.
Maintenance:
Exterpark Tech is Maintenance-free. No cracks should appear due to changes in environmental humidity or temperature. Exterpark Tech will loose colour in a very small percentage due to the exposure of its vegetable components to UV rays. After this stage it will maintain the tonality for an infinite time.
